Authenticity in the Classroom: Level II
You are fired up after attending Authenticity in the Classroom and beginning to bring some of the ideas and tools from the course into your practice. You’ve created your Empathy Maps and S.M.A.R.T goals for the learning community you want to create. What comes next?
This follow-up course builds on your understanding of authenticity-based social-emotional learning and gives you the opportunity to use design thinking to create a customized action plan for your practice.
In the first two sessions, you will learn fun and interactive design-thinking techniques that will help you conceptualize the changes you want to make in your teaching practice. We’ll discuss the importance of incorporating student voice into your design and discover ways to make it happen.
Then, over the next month, you’ll use everything you’ve learned to gather meaningful data and feedback from your students about their experiences and perspectives.
When you return for the next two sessions, you’ll synthesize all the information you’ve gathered, analyze it, and combine it with your newly acquired design-thinking skills to create a detailed action plan for implementing your students’ ideas in your learning community.
You’ll complete the course with your own plan for creating meaningful change in your community that is responsive to your students’ needs.
